Dear Editor: Currently, Consolidated Cable TV is in negotiations with Viacom concerning several networks, including Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and MTV.
Posted March 28, 2014
While we hope to be able to continue offering these networks, in an effort to be open about our discussions, we have notified customers that Viacom may pull their networks.
Programming fees account for the bulk of our customers’ monthly bills. Our goal is to protect our customers from significant programming fee increases.
Viacom demanded an increase that is 40 times the rate of inflation over last year’s fees for the same channels you get today – even if you don’t watch them. It is like going to the gas pumps and today paying $3.59 per gallon and tomorrow going and being charged $6 per gallon.
Our existing agreement expires on March 31, 2014, Viacom may turn off their networks or require us to remove all their channels until a new agreement is secured.
