Anna Charity (Holding Eagle) “Cornsilk” Voigt, 85, of Twin Buttes community, Fort Berthold Reservation, near Halliday, ND, went to live with the Creator on Dec. 12, 2013 at Knife River Care Center, Beulah.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. CDT on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 at the Twin Buttes Memorial Hall with Pastor Kris Nyman officiating. Burial will follow at Red Butte Cemetery.
A wake service will be held the evening before at 5 p.m. CDT at the Twin Buttes Memorial Hall.
Anna was born on March 11, 1928 in Elbowoods, ND to James and Catherine (Malnouri) Holding Eagle.
She was a direct descendent of the Nu-eta Corn Priest line, the granddaughter of Scattered Corn, the great-granddaughter of Moves Slowly and a member of the Knife Clan.
Anna was an enrolled member of the Mandan-Hidatsa tribe. She grew up and attended school in Elbowoods.
Anna worked at Twin Buttes School at several different stages of her life. She married Ervin Voigt in Wibaux, MT.
Anna was a wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed all of her roles. She always put everyone’s needs before her own. Anna was also an avid runner, often running in 5k and 10k races.
Anna is survived by her children, Luke Fredericks of Minneapolis, MN, Janet (Chris) Iverson of Beulah, and James Voigt of Halliday; three grandchildren, Anna, Noah and Nessa Iverson; many nieces and nephews, David Holding Eagle, Jay Holding Eagle, Kathy Holding Eagle-Turner, Dinah Belgarde, Wayne Sage, Joshua Sage, Willis (Corrine) Sage, Tom Sage and Mohler (Sharon) Beko; and many family members, too numerous to mention.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; her parents; her siblings, Louise Sage, Amos Holding Eagle, Matthew Holding Eagle, Naomi Beko, Emmanuel Holding Eagle, Marie (Snow) Holding Eagle and Flora Holding Eagle.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot-Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
