Initially responding July 23 to a medical emergency, Headley said Bowman resident Stephanie Lindstrom, 42, was found at her residence in distress and transported to Southwest Healthcare in Bowman.
“After she was transported, there was evidence of an infant in the toilet,” he said.
According to police records, Lindstrom allegedly drowned her newborn daughter.
On Wednesday, the Bowman Police Department completed its investigation, finding probable cause that the incident was a homicide, Headley said.
A search warrant for Lindstrom’s home was obtained and executed and she was placed under arrest on a Class AA felony murder charges around 4 p.m. Wednesday at her residence.
The police department kept news of the investigation close-lipped until interviews were completed.
A bond hearing will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in a Dickinson court. The maximum penalty for a Class AA felony is life imprisonment without parole.
