■ Preschool Story Time

You and your preschool aged child are invited to join us for stories, singing, crafting and fun! Children must be accom-panied by an adult.

Held every Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church (on hwy 22 across from the Killdeer School).

This is not a religious pro-gram and all are welcome.

■ Dunn County Fair Association meets

The Dunn County Fair Asso-ciation meets every third Tues-day of the month at 6 p.m. in Killdeer, ND at the County Of-fice Building conference room.

This meeting is open to the public. Everyone is welcome to attend.

 

■ City of Killdeer Commission Meetings

The City of Killdeer commission meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays. of the month at 5 p.m. at city hall.

 

■ Dunn County Commission Meetings

The Dunn County commission meets the 1st and 3rd Weds., from 9 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. at the courthouse in Manning, 205 Owen St.

 

■ Dunn County Planning and Zoning Meetings

The Dunn County planning and zoning board meets the 2nd Tue. of the month from 7-9 p.m. at the courthouse in Manning, 205 Owen St.

 

■ Dunn County Writers Group

A writer’s group meets at the Dunn County museum once a month.

Upcoming meetings will be on the first Monday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m.: Mon. Sept 1, Mon. Oct.6, Mon. Nov.3. Please bring a piece of writing to share and work on, if pos-sible.

All genres and levels of experience are welcome. Come and meet others interested in writing, in a supportive and creative environment. Refresh-ments will be served.

This is a follow up to the two Writer’s Workshops held at the Museum in November 2013, which were sponsored by the North Dakota Humanities Council.

 

■ St. John’s Lutheran Church

There will be quilting every Monday starting October 6, 2014 until March 15, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Bring your sack lunch; everyone is welcome. Come join in the Fellowship.

 

Haunted Theatre set at BSC

Bismarck State College theater students and members of the BSC Drama Club guarantee more “stage fright” at the Haunted Theatre Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 on campus.

Haunting hours run 6 to 11 p.m. nightly with $5 admission at the door. Proceeds go toward the Drama Club’s annual trip to the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.

 

Railway backlog update

Rep. Kevin Cramer announced this week that BNSF Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) have publicly filed updated weekly status reports on the backlog in grain shipments.

The figures from BNSF show a total of 3,704 past due rail cars in North Dakota averaging 14.1 days late as of October 17, compared to the report the previous week which indicated 3,706 past due cars were averaging 12.3 days late. The CP report shows a total of 1,801 open requests in North Dakota with an average age of 3.77 weeks. The previous report showed 1,771 open requests with an average age of 3.57 weeks.

 

Killdeer firefighters canvassing city

The Killdeer firemen will be canvassing the city of Killdeer on Wed. Oct. 29 from 7- 9 pm. with their annual raffle tickets. Price of the tickets is $5 with a chance to win 2- $200. 2-&100 and 2-$50 winners. The drawing will be held Nov. 19. Leaving a light on at your front door tells the fireman you are home.
