The North Dakota Department of Health was notified Feb. 27 of a pipeline leak near Highway 22 just north of Dickinson on a well pad owned by C12 Energy.

Approximately 148 barrels of brine flowed off the well pad and through a ditch onto newly annexed land on the north side of Dickinson. The brine has not reached the Dickinson storm water system. C12 Energy reported that two barrels of oil were also released.

The brine spill has impacted the road ditch and adjacent property. A North Dakota Department of Health inspector has taken samples from the area for testing and the department is working with the company to formulate a clean-up plan.

The Southwest District Health Unit and the Stark County Emergency Manager are working with the NDDoH to ensure the site is properly handled with as little impact to the environment as possible.
