Cowboy girls lose to Grant County

The Killdeer Cowboys girls basketball team lost to the Grant County Coyotes by a 65 – 45 score early last week.

Down by two points after the first quarter (13-11), the Cowboys managed only eight points in the second quarter, while allowing the Coyotes 19. Halftime score 33-19, Coyotes leading.

But the Cowboys came out on fire for the third quarter, scoring 21 points and holding the Coyotes to just 14, whittling down the Coyote lead to just 46-40 at the third quarter buzzer.

But the fire didn’t last, as the Cowboys could muster just five fourth quarter points while allowing the Coyotes to score 19.

Morgan LeMieux scored 14 points for the Cowboys and Jessica Starr added 12 points. Alison Scheetz added nine points and Codi Schaper added four, Sydney Anderson added three, Ashley Brew added two points and Kallisha Keller added one.

Jessica Starr grabbed 14 rebounds for the Cowboys, Ashley Brew nabbed nine, Morgan LeMieux had four rebounds, Codi Schaper three, Tray Murray two boards and Sydney Andersen, Kallisha Keller, and Alison Scheetz each grabbed one.

Jessica Starr blocked two shots for the Cowboys.
