Cowboys Have Solid Start to Outdoor Season

Boys and girls varsity teams were in action last Thursday for the Carlson Booster Meet in Dickinson.


Both teams had good starts on a windy day against some stiff competition. The boys were led by the relays and filed events with the 400 and 800 relays finishing in 6th and 5th. Hayes LeMieux was the runnerup in the high jump, clearing 5’10” for the second meet in a row. Daniel Arthur finished 3rd in the discuss. The Cowboys had a big day in the throws and jumps with many athletes having personal bests but finishing outside the top 8.

The girls were also led by their relays with a runnerup finish in the 3200 relay. In the other relays, the 400 was 6th, the 800 was 4th, and the 1600 was 8th. In other action, Shawnee Hansen and Sydney Anderson went 4-8 in the 800, with Kallisha Keller and Trae Murray sneaking out places in the pole vault and high jump.

Athletes of the Week

Daniel Arthur

Arthur had a big day in the discus in Dickinson, finishing 3rd and getting closer and closer to the state qualifiying mark. He also participates in the throws and short relays. Arthur is also in football and wrestling.

Danielle Benz

Benz continues to lower her times in the distance races and place in the 1600 on Thursday. She also runs the 800, 3200, and 3200 relay. Benz is an all-region and all-state cross country runner, and plays basketball. Besides sports, Benz participates in band, Science Olympiad and yearbook.
