Last Thursday, the Killdeer Cowboys looked very impressive, playing a team that had already beat them once this year.Posted 1/24/14

But they outplayed New England and came away with a big win, on top by a score of 50 – 41.
“Coming into the game, we knew that New England was going to be a tough
opponent,” Coach Andy Murphy said. “They already beat us this year during the Roughrider Tournament in December so we knew we needed to play very well.”
For the record, New England was 7-0 coming into the game and the Cowboys were 3-4.
“Defensively, we played our best game all year so far,” Murphy said. “We knew that we had
to contain Bender, Urlacher, and Prince.
“I told the boys that they cannot have open looks at the hoop. All three are very good shooters and athletes that can take the ball to the hole. We did an awesome job altering shots
and boxing out.”
On the boards, the Cowboys were dominant, out rebounding New England 43-19.
Offensively, the Cowboys were great also.
“Offensively, we were very patient,” Murphy said. “We knew that we needed to work the ball
around on offense and take some time off the clock.
“New England is an outstanding defensive team so being patient and working the ball through
our offense was very key to the game.”
