Cowboys lose 2 of 3 at Roughrider Tourney

The Killdeer Cowboy girls basketball team played some good basketball last week during their 38th annual Roughrider Basketball Tournament.

But in the end, they won just one of three of their games.

After losing their opener against the Beulah Miners by a score of 41-37, the Cowboys won their next game against Heart River 57-31.

Leading the scoring for the Cowboys was Morgan LeMieux with 13 points and Keauna Fox with 8. LeMieux and Ashley Brew each had four steals against the Cougars. Brew and LeMieux also led the team in rebounds, with Brew getting six and LeMieux getting eight.

Friday night the Cowboys played the New England Tigers for fifth place but lost 55-41.

Morgan LeMieux was high scorer with 14 points, with Alison Scheetz scoring six, Jessica Starr scoring seven and Keauna Fox scoring seven. LeMieux also grabbed 10 of the Cowboys 18 rebounds during the Friday evening game. The next game for the Cowboys girls team will be Jan. 6 against Glen Ullin/ Hebron at Hebron (5 p.m.).
