Darrell Dean Jacobs, (His Bay Horse) “I dau Shauk ZE dash,” was born July 2, 1962, in Hazen, ND, to Eugene Jacobs Sr. and Loretta Eagle. He was called home by the Creator on November 24, 2012. Darrell was a member of the Water Buster Clan.
He was raised in Twin Buttes where he attended Elementary School and moved on to graduate with honors from Halliday High School, where he was Homecoming King his senior year. Upon graduating he then went onto Minot State University where he pursued a degree in social work.
Darrell excelled in various sports, including basketball, football and boxing, but being able to coach his three sons to all win a statechampionship in wrestling meant the most to him.
Darrell was known to tell a joke or two, and all the kids loved him. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, and definitely always had something cooked!
Darrell’s heart of gold is what brought many to his home, where he would always take those in need, those hurting or just for good company. Darrell’s heart for animals left him with many strays that wandered to his house but his major love was his dog “Old Blue.” Darrell’s favorite NFL Team was the Vikings and he was a dedicated “Chevy Man”; everyone who knew him knew he was always game for an arm wrestling match. He was very family oriented and grew up respecting his traditional ways. You could many times find him with his Uncle Virgil, whom he respected and admired like a father.
Darrell is survived by his mother, Loretta Eagle; sons, Jonathan David Jacobs, James Moses Jacobs, and William Richard Jacobs; brothers, Bill Jacobs (Myrna), Lonnie Jacobs & Timothy Jacobs; sisters, Marilyn “Toots” Jacobs (Ed B.) Sharon Jacobs (Kenny), Tammy Jacobs (Andrew), Anita Gegelman (Orville); grandchildren, Lillianna Perry, Jade Marie Perry, Kyran Perry, Ashton Crows Heart, Ciara Marie Jacobs and Redaya Red Fox.; goddaughters, Lacey Lashea Jacobs and Ayanna Gwinn.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Barney & Anna Jacobs; maternal grandparents Jim & Annie Eagle and Martina Eagle Ross; his father Eugene Jacobs Sr.; brothers James Jacobs, Eugene Mosey Jacobs Jr., and Deon Eric Jacobs and nephews Shawn Jacobs and Courtney Bracklin.
Arrangements were conducted by Barbot-Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
