Deadline looming for students to complete Open Enrollment Aplication

Students who live outside the Killdeer Public School boundaries must complete an Open Enrollment Application for the 2017-18 school year by Feb. 28.
There are significant number of students who attend school in Killdeer who live outside the district boundaries, Killdeer Superintendent Gary Wilz said in a recent school newsletter. Additionally, there are a few students from Killdeer who are attending school in another district, he said.
According to state statute, the open enrollment deadline is “the last working day prior to March First,” Wilz said in the newsletter.
The application is filed with the “Admitting District” instead of the “Resident District.” I still encounter difficulty trying to ensure that families file the necessary paper work according the NDCC timeline,” Wilz said in the newsletter.
Families that reside in McKenzie County, Billings County7, Halliday School District, Beulah School District, Mandaree School District and Twin Buttes students of elementary age should file open-enrollment applications for Killdeer School District no later than Feb. 28, 2017. Twin Buttes high school students are covered on “Tuition Agreements.”
The form can be downloaded at www.nd.gov/ dpi/uploads/documents/209/sfn19378.pdf or they can be requested from the school office.
“I would be happy to assist you with any questions you have regarding open enrollment,” Wilz said in his column.
