Twenty-three-year-old Scott Anthony Wills of Mandan died early Sunday morning in Dunn County as result of a head-on collision with a semi, North Dakota Highway Patrol said.

Wills was traveling on Highway 200 near mile marker 103 in Dunn County early Sunday morning when, at approximately 1:20 a.m., his 1993 Ford F250 crossed the center line and struck an oncoming semi, authorities said.

Wills was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident and died at the scene.

The 36-year-old truck driver, Brian Eugene Ballard of Monterey, La., was wearing his seatbelt, but sent to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson for unspecified injuries, authorities said. Ballard was driving a 2008 Freightliner, hauling salt water to a disposal site east of Dunn Center. His track incurred roughly $30,000 worth of damage according to authorities.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Further information is forthcoming.
