Dickinson man dies in head-on collision near Killdeer

The North Dakota Highway Patrol identified the driver who was killed in a head-on collision on Wednesday in an accident on Highway 22 north of Killdeer as 51-year-old Chris Davillier, 51, of Dickinson.

According to the patrol, Davillier was driving a 2017 Freightliner box truck south on Highway 22 when it crossed the center line and collided with a 2015 Freightliner semi with a single box trailer driven by Richard Perkerewicz, 61, of Washburn. The box truck struck the semi on the left front, and came to rest of the shoulder, partly in the southbound lane. The semi came to rest in the ditch on the east side of the road.

Perkerewicz was transported to St. Alexius Hospital in Dickinson by Killdeer Ambulance. Davillier died at the scene. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol report said.

The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.
