The Business Club and Sigma Tau Delta (the English Honor Society) are sponsoring a college essay-writing contest for high school juniors and seniors.Posted 2/05/14
“This is an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to try their hand at college-level writing in order to better prepare them for the rigors of higher education,” said Holly Gruhlke, assistant professor of business and management at DSU. “Contest winners will receive tuition waivers if they choose to attend Dickinson State University.”
High school juniors and seniors are invited to participate in the essay contest, which focuses on writing skills necessary for success in college. Essays should focus on the value of a college education, time management, and planning for college success.
Essays will be judged by members of the English Honor Society and judged on clarity, creativity, and format.
“This is a great opportunity for DSU students to engage high school students in the college search process. Essay writing is a big part of college admissions and the college experience,” said Gruhlke. “DSU students can share their knowledge and gain practical experience in marketing as well as essay scoring. This is a truly student centric event on both sides.”
Essay submissions should be received by March 1,2014.
