Dunn Co. 4-H’ers ‘do well’ at state contest

The 2014 Dunn County 4-H Junior Livestock Judging Team traveled to Valley City on March 8 to compete in the State Livestock Judging Contest held in conjunction with the ND Winter Show.

One-hundred-and-seventeen youth from 25 teams participated in the junior division of the state 4-H contest this year. Each youth had to place six classes of livestock, two each of beef, sheep and swine and give an oral set of reasons on three of the classes(one of each species). Members of the Junior Livestock Judging team were Iris Dukart, Payton Pavlenko, Bailey Bendish, Teigan Pavlenko, and Ian Dukart. The team placed 12th overall and three members received ribbons by placing in the top 50 percent. Iris Dukart placed 36th, Payton Pavlenko placed 46th, and Teigan Pavlenko placed 58th.
The team was coached this year by Becky Buchmann.
