Dunn County brings back Ladies’ Ag Night

Women from around Dunn County gathered to celebrate Ladies’ Ag Night.

Dunn County has not had a Woman’s Ag Night for the past few years and we decided it was time to host one again!  We changed it up and decided to call it Ladies Ag Night. We decided that we will rotate the event each year in different towns in the county.  The Halliday city commission helped sponsor the event by donating the use of the city hall which has an amazing kitchen.

We had excellent participation with the businesses we called for sponsoring Ladies Ag Night and we wouldn’t have been able to host this event without them!  A special thank you to the Dunn County Herald for posting our event in their newspaper for 3 weeks. Sponsorship for the evening went towards food, planters, the succulents and door prizes.  Our sponsors chose from 3 different levels of giving; gold, silver, or bronze.

Sponsors for the event were City of Dunn Center, Dunn County SCD, Hyalite Engineering, 1st International Bank, 2 Guys Diggin, Cobblestone, K & R Well Service, City of Halliday, Embroidery Arts, Benz Oil, Killdeer Aquatics Center, Creations by Merry, and Keepin it Real with Kaylee.  We began the night with the ladies signing in for the prizes and the grand prize which was a month membership to the aquatics center, water bottle and a fit bit.

Donations were also accepted for the Dunn County Food Pantry and $140 was collected and delivered to the Pantry.  The ladies picked out a clay planter and begin to paint them and enjoy some of our appetizers. Our board members Larry, Casey, Alex and Soil Conservationist Derek, also attended to serve the ladies coffee, lemonade or water. After the painting was completed, then it was time for supper!  We had pulled pork sandwiches with all the fixings. The meat was smoked by Jeff Hoff and buns baked by Janene Knudsvig!

When we finished eating, we had the pleasure of listening to Jon Stika talk about No-Till Gardening and Soil Health. Then Jenni Wallace with the Spring Creek Greenhouse began to show us how to plant succulents. Throughout the night we drew for door prizes.  We want to thank everyone at the office for all your hard work, our board members for attending, everyone that cooked or baked for us, our sponsors and for all the ladies coming and showing their support.

There were 64 ladies that RSVP’d for the evening and the turnout was phenomenal! We look forward to hosting this event somewhere in Dunn County next year. Watch our Facebook page and Dunn Deals newsletter for our next event!
