During the Jan. 3 meeting, the Dunn County Commissioners voted to rescind the county-wide burn ban due to improved weather conditions.

Dunn County Emergency Manager Denise Brew said the removal of the fire ban gives county residents the freedom to burn what they choose.
Fire indexes have not been issued daily since Dec. 9, Brew added.
For safety reasons, she recommends contacting herself or the local fire chief when burning with a garbage or smoke pit to show them it is a controlled fire.
This will prevent any unnecessary callouts for firefighters and other responders.
Although the ban has been lifted, Brew suggests people be careful and watch the weather.
“I would stress remain very cautious. Contact me or the local fire chief. Monitor the weather or me if you’re not comfortable monitoring it,” Brew said.
Brew added that she doesn’t look for the burn ban to come back into effect until spring and she will continue to watch the weather.
