The Dunn County Lutheran Parish from St. John’s Lutheran Church and Peace Lutheran from Dickinson will be having a Lessons and Carols Service on Dec. 13 to raise funds for a mission trip to Houston with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

“Every three years, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America invites the youth of our church to gather in one city for three incredible days of worship, service, and fellowship,” Reverend Dorothy Williams said. “This summer, 13 youth and five adults from Dunn County Lutheran Parish will be joining 30,000 other youth from around the country to gather in Houston, Texas to see what God is up to in the lives of our neighbors down south.”
The group from Dunn County decided to work with other youth in the area to raise funds for the event, which led to the Lessons and Carols Service, Williams said.
“The youth of Dunn County Parish will be joining together with the youth of Peace Lutheran Church in Dickinson to lead our community in an evening of special music, Scripture lessons, Christmas stories, and carol-singing to help our community to be centered in Christ this holiday season,” Williams said. “A free-will offering will be taken up and all proceeds will support the group going on this trip.”
There will be a service at St. John’s Lutheran Church starting at 6 p.m. and the reception will follow with cookies, cocoa and cider.
“So if you are looking for a way to be centered in Christ this busy season, or a way to support the youth of our area, or simply a way to continue to aid Houston as it recovers from the hurricane, this is the event for you,” Williams said.
