Stacy Swenson has been has had her hands in community journalism for 15 years, including the last three as group publisher for County Media Inc.

She’s been an editor, publisher and owner during her illustrious career in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Washington State.
And now she is a member of the board of directors for the North Dakota Newspaper Association, a position she was appointed to on May 6. She was selected during the association’s 130th annual convention in Crosby. Her 2-year term starts in June.
“I’m very excited about this. It is a great honor,” Swenson said.
Swenson is the publisher for the Dunn County Herald, and sister publications The Herald in New England and The Adams County Record in Hettinger. Her group recently won 17 awards at the convention, including six first-place winners – Reporting Series, Sports Series, Sports Column, Front Page Design, Overall Design Excellence and Spot News Photo.
“I think I can bring a lot to the table,” Swenson said. ‘I have some fresh ideas to contribute.”
On the board, Swenson joins a team that has nearly eight decades of journalism experience. The other members of the board are: Sara J. Plum, Harvey Brock, Denning Gackle and Paul Erdelt.
Plum, the editor of county newspapers in Minnewaukan and Lakota, was elected president of the association at the convention and Brock, the publisher of the Dickinson Press, was elected first vice president.
