Emil Herbert Mann, was born on February 4, 1923, north of Halliday to Mike and Ottilia (Martin) Mann.  He grew up and attended country school north of Halliday.  Emil farmed with his family until he met and fell in love with, Esther Entzel, whom he married on October 11, 1949.  They resided on the family farm where they raised their children until they moved into Halliday in 1962.  Emil was a jack of all trades, employed at various jobs, ranging from the oil field to  owning their own bar and restaurant, where they worked side by side.  He was a very hard working man, not willing to retire until he was 84 years old.  Emil’s greatest enjoyment was visiting with family, which brought tears to his eyes when the visits were over. He always had a joke ready to tell and enjoyed a good laugh after telling them.
Emil is survived by his wife of 65 years, Esther of Halliday; daughters, Linda (Dale) Richau of Baxter, MN, Paulette (Elmer) Nordsven of Watford City, ND, Arlan Mann of Williston, ND, Twila Forgy of Halliday, ND; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Olga Mann of Hazen, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Janel Lewton; brother, Ewald Mann; infant brother; grandson, Christopher Mann; infant great-grandson.
Arrangements conducted by Barbot Funeral Homes, Beulah and Hazen.
