Fall is in full swing and with it, the Hill Top Heritage Foundation’s 24th Annual Steak Fry and Auction.
Posted Sept. 28, 2012
This year’s event will be held on Saturday evening, October 20, at the Buckskin Dance Hall in Killdeer. Serving will begin at 5:30 p.m. (MT), with the auction to immediately follow. The Foundation is offering the same great low prices they have had for years, so there is no reason not to bring the entire family out for an entertaining evening
The Olympics are behind us and the election is just around the corner, so the Foundation felt it would be a great opportunity to use red, white, and blue, along with Uncle Sam to emphasize the important role that you play in keeping Hill Top the great place that it is. It is also very obvious that you are the key to making this event a success, both this year and in the past. And don’t worry, no political debates have been planned! Instead, the Foundation works very hard to put together a fun evening, and in the words of Uncle Sam, “We need YOU to make a difference!” And it truly does take YOU to make it a success!
The auction’s ever popular hand-painted furniture pieces will again be featured this year. These pieces are decorated by area artists and sponsored by local businesses. Some of the unique pieces are now on display at American Bank Center, so check them out and pick your favorites. Other unique items include pottery, native wood pieces and other original creations donated by talented craftsmen. This year’s proceeds have been earmarked for the purchase of new furnishings for the resident lounges, so please help support the cause.
Furthermore, you will also have the opportunity to win one of three donated Coach purses in a fun game. The winner of the game will get first dibs on the purses and the remaining two will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
To add even more to the fun this year, two Foundation Board members have challenged one another to see who can raise more money on their prepared baskets. One is sponsoring a UND basket including hockey tickets, football tickets, lodging, keepsakes and other items, while the other is filling the basket with NDSU football collectables, football tickets and the like. Of course, both will also have a few secret weapons that will be revealed at the auction, and the high bidders will be truly in for a treat with some impressive one-of-a-kind items. As a concession, the board member who receives the lesser amount for their basket will have to donate $100 to the foundation.
The Heritage Foundation will also gratefully accept cash donations and auction items at any time. To be included in the auction booklet, the Foundation Office must be notified by October 5, 2012.
