Jacob Fettig, age 88, passed away at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Jefferson, OR.

He was born in Halliday, ND the son of Thomas and Regina (Bosch) Fettig. Jack grew up in Halliday on the family farm. He graduated from North Dakota Public Schools June 2nd, 1939. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army Feb. 27, 1945 and served until his honorable discharge in Oct. of 1946. He married Betty Murphy in Fargo, North Dakota on July 30, 1949 at St Mary’s Cathedral where they later moved to the Portland, Oregon area. Jack enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in March of 1952 and served until his honorable discharge in Sept. of 1953, where he then moved to San Jose, California in 1960 and worked for 27 years in the carpenters union #1280 and built many commercial buildings such as hospitals, churches and schools. After he retired, he drove his own tractor for North American Van Lines.

He divorced in 1988 and married again in 1989 to Rose, where he moved to Las Vegas, NV, then to Williams, CA, and finally settled at Jefferson, Oregon. He was a regular attendant of Jefferson Baptist Church in Jefferson, OR, and found the Lord in his adult life.

Jack is survived by his sons David Fettig of Fremont, CA; Gary Fettig of Monmouth, OR; his daughter Melanie Fearnside of Morgan Hill, CA; and their mother Betty Fettig; and is survived by his grand-children Amanda Chang of San Jose, CA; Tiffany Fettig of New York; Erin and Caitlin Fettig of Monmouth, OR; Amber, Amy and Allison Fearnside of Morgan Hill, CA; and his great-grand-daughter Riley Chang; as well as his brother Wendelin “Wendy” Fettig of Billlings, MT. He was preceded in death by his wife Rose; and his 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

His funeral took place at Jefferson Baptist Church in Jefferson, OR on May 7, 2012 with his family by his side and was laid to rest at Willamette Memorial Park.
