The holiday season gave another opportunity for Kat Perkins to give back.

The Scranton-born rocker paid a special visit to military installations in the war-torn Middle East last month to dazzle members of the U.S. Armed Forces with her musical prowess.

“Having the opportunity to bring even a small taste of home, especially during the holidays, to our men and women serving overseas is something I’m so thankful for,” Perkins said. “To be able to combine doing what I love, and doing something for others is hard to top.”

Perkins spent about a week touring undisclosed locations in the Middle East. The arrangements were made possible through her agent’s company, Trovata Entertainment, which helps various military bases bring in entertainment throughout the year.

Perkins had a woman from North Dakota whose son served on one of the military bases she was scheduled to visit reach out to her prior to the trip.

Perkins got to surprise him by calling him onto the stage during her performance and giving him a special message from his mother.

“It was a moment that I’ll never forget,” she said.
