Katherine (Kay) Regina Schettler, 83, Bismarck and formerly of Halliday, passed peacefully at the St. Alexius Hospital on Saturday, May 21, 2016.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Halliday from 5:00 to7:00 CDT. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM.

Funeral mass will be held at the Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave., Bismarck on Tuesday, May 24 at 10:30 CDT with Fr. Wayne Sattler officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the Church of St. Anne following the internment.

Kay was born on December 14, 1932, the eighth of twelve children of Anton and Eva (Sautner) Wilhelm. Kay was married to Delbert Schettler on November 28, 1950. They ranched north of Halliday until they moved to the Edgewood Vista in Bismarck in October of 2010. Kay was well known for her Tupperware sales of more than 40 years, her love of pinochle, poker, bingo, cook books, photography (disposable cameras), and house plants. Kay was a lifetime member of the Pioneer Homemakers, St. Paul’s Altar Society, Halliday School PTA, Red Hat Ladies and Halliday Legion Auxiliary.

Kay is survived by her five children – Dennis (Peggy) Schettler, Charlotte (Paul) Rohde, both of Halliday, Mary (Gordon) Robson, Hazen, David (Rhonda) Schettler, Bismarck and Melissa Gregoire (special friend Chad Hansen), Shakopee, MN; all of her special grandchildren and great grandchildren who she dearly loved. She is also survived by her brother Vic (Donna) Wilhelm, Halliday and her sisters Emma Toney, Beulah, Elaine Steffen, Keystone IA, Cary Earnest, Lincoln NE and Georgia Cerise, Tucson, AZ plus many nieces, nephews, Godchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister, her husband Delbert, son-in-law Mike Gregoire and Delbert’s parents, Jack & Agatha Schettler.
