High scores plagued the Killdeer boys golf team, but it still placed third at the New Salem tournament on April 27.
Mike Hutchison led the Cowboys with a score of 101, followed by teammate Ryan Zastoupil’s 104 and Jon Tomjack at 117. Gabe Magee posted a 139.
Heart River won the tournament with a score of 307. The Cougars had the top three placers, including medalists Joey Wagner, who shot an even-par 72. Beulah was second at 356, while the Cowboys tallied 378 for third place in the eight-team field.
On April 28, the Cowboys were short-handed and did not have enough players to score as a team in the Bowman County tournament in Bowman. Hutchison again led the way with a score of 95. Zach Andersen followed at 97 and Tomjack shot a 113.
Heart River won the tournament with a score of 302, with Wagner again winning medalists honors by shooting a 69.
