Killdeer boys’ winning streak snapped after 2-point loss against Underwood

The Killdeer High School boys basketball team ran into a roadblock on the road and saw its longest winning streak snapped Tuesday night after a gut-wrenching 51-49 loss to Underwood.


The Cowboys were seeking their fourth win in a row and to even its season record, but the loss dropped Killdeer to 5-7 with a game against Center-Stanton on top for tonight.

Killdeer had posted convincing Region 7 victories over Bowman County (57-49) and Beach (59-50)and than a thrilling one-point victory over Mandaree 53-52 over the past 10 days.

Against Mandaree, the Cowboys used a 22-point third quarter explosion than had to hold on in the fourth quarter for the victory.

With the score tied at 27 at halftime, Killdeer outscored Mandaree 22-5 in the third quarter. But the shoe was on the other foot in the final stanza, with Mandaree outscoring Killdeer 20-4.

The Cowboys’ one-two punch of Alex Sadowsky and Garrett LeMieux led the way. Sadowsky paced Killdeer with 19 points while LeMieux had 16.

No information was available on the victory over Bowman County or the loss to Underwood.
