The Killdeer FFA Chapter Officer Team received a high Silver rating at the North Dakota State FFA Parliamentary Procedure CDE at the Capitol in Bismarck on Oct. 5.
The young team competed against the best-of-the-best in the event. Only the top two teams from each district competed at the state contest.
The team members included: Colby Dukart, Kylee Boltz, Katelin Chinn, Katelynn Lane, Shayly Brew, Lily McFadden, Cate Fredericks, Iris Dukart and Liam McFadden.
The members took a written test that challenged their knowledge of parliamentary procedure. Following the test, the team had 10 minutes to prepare for the given problem and then 10 minutes to demonstrate to a panel of judges how to handle the problem.
It was evaluated on its parliamentary soundness in handling the abilities correctly, conclusions reached, and team effectiveness.
The teams were split into two 8-team brackets. The top two from each bracket advanced to the final round.
Although Killdeer did not make the finals, FFA Chapter adviser Dave Leier, was nonetheless, encouraged by his team’s performance.
“This was a very green team, with only one returning member having competed in the contest before,” Leier said. “They had many early mornings in the Ag room practicing and fine-tuning their performance. They presented the best performance they have ever done as a team and should be very proud of the progress they have made and the challenges they have overcome this season.”
