Action starts and 5 p.m. and will continue until, well, the action is complete.
There will be a dozen mats set up in the auxiliary gymnasium and the new gymnasium for the one-day extravaganza that has drawn wrestlers from around the state and Montana. Last year the tournament featured 308 participants from 20 wrestling clubs.
It’s open to youths in preschool through the sixth grade and will feature a round-robin format.
Wrestlers in the fifth and sixth grades will be participating in the auxiliary gym, while the younger wrestlers will tangle in the new gymnasium.
The divisions will be: Kindergarten and under; first and second grade; third and fourth grade and fifth and sixth grade.
The Killdeer Cowboy Wrestling Club won the Team Tournament Championship trophy last weekend at the 2017 Mighty Thunder Wrestling Tournament in Beulah.
After the tournament, the club will be hosting the “Battle in the Baaken” grade-school triangular on March 16 against Hazen and Watford City in the Killdeer High School Wrestling Room. Killdeer will face Hazen at 4 p.m., and Watford City at 6 p.m.
