The Killdeer girls basketball team evened its Region 7 record on Tuesday and had a chance to move into the middle of the pack of the standings on Thursday.

The Cowboys whipped Richardton-Taylor 55-31 on the road and were scheduled for another road matchup against Mott-Regent on Thursday. Mott-Regent went into Thursday’s game with a 4-3 regional mark. Results of the game can be found on the Dunn County Herald web site.
The victory over Richardton-Taylor continued the Cowboys’ up-and-down season where they have not been able to put a consistent string of victories together. Their longest win streak this season is two games.
Prior to Tuesday night’s game, Killdeer knocked off Beach 64-32 on Jan. 19 before falling to highly regarded Grant county 49-29 on Jan. 21.
No information was available from the victory over Richardton-Taylor at press time.
Killdeer 64, Beach 32
Trae Murray scored 23 points and Gabi Flaget added 11 to lead the Cowboys over Beach, who was led by Abby Wilheimi with 13 points.
Killdeer broke what had been a close game in the second quarter and carried it on into the second half. The score was tied at 8 after the first period, but the Cowboys outscored Beach 41-17 in the second and third quarters to put the game away.
Grant County 49, Killdeer 29
There were no explosions against Grant County. The Cowboys were held to three points in the second quarter and never recovered. Killdeer trailed 12-7 after the first quarter, but Grant County outscored the Cowboys 13-3 in the second stanza and then opened a 41-20 lead after three periods.
Murray led the way with 13 points. Grant County was led by Taylor Roehl with 26 points, including a trio of 3-point bombs.
