The Five Star Award is given to suppliers who execute 100% quality and 100% on-time delivery over the course of one full year. Only 3% of Raytheon’s suppliers receive this award. “It is an honor to play a role in the Raytheon supply chain, and this award truly illustrates the commitment of the team of people at KMM to provide not only a quality product but also complete customer satisfaction, ” said Kristin Hedger, VP of KMM’s Business Development, “They rely on our products to work properly the first time, every time.”
KMM works closely with Raytheon as a supplier of electronic sub-assemblies (for us laypeople) circuit cards, wire harnesses and other essential components for missiles and other US military/civilian applications. This work provides many jobs here in North Dakota, particularly, at KMM”s home office in Killdeer which has expanded now to locations in Killdeer, Halliday, Hastings, Dickinson, Regent and Grand Forks.
“Three generations of our family have participated in relationships with Raytheon”, said KMM founder and CEO Don Hedger, “We look forward to continuing this supportive role for many years to come.” Long-time, local Dunn County residents will recall that KMM was started on November 1, 1987, as a family owned business by Mr. Hedger during the last bust in the oil boom when the local economy was foundering as a way to employ local residents. With his contacts at NASA and the aerospace industry, Hedger, started his company making circuit boards for McDonnell Douglas (later Boeing Aircraft) until becoming a Tier 1 defense contractor over the years. “The businesses in North Dakota do top-notch work that make our state proud,” said Senator Heidi Heitkamp. “Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing is no exception. Not only does the company support good jobs in the state, but this award reinforces that Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing is committed to great results while supplying products that help our service members do their jobs.” KMM is now one of the leading manufacturers of labor-intensive wire harness, fiber optics, custom labeling, circuit card assembly, specialty coating and other applications. Dedicated to community involvement and support, KMM works closely with DSU and NDSU. For more information, log-on at www.kmmnet.com.
