Louis was born on November 1, 1921, to Anton (A.N.) and Clara (Vold) Steffen. He was the oldest of their four children. He was raised on the family farm and continued to be a farmer his whole life. At age, 88, he was still driving to the farm every day to find busy work. Louis married Marie Bauman, on November 28, 1946, in a country church north of Dodge, ND. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage, two daughters, four grandchildren and a great-grand son. Louis and Marie traveled frequently, especially enjoying their bus trips. He loved his family and enjoyed watching or attending his grand-children’s sports or distant graduations.
Louis was known for his patience and gentle ways. A quiet person, always wanting to be busy and never once to ask for help, but very willing to help others. Louis was a resident at Hilltop, but still enjoyed getting out to see the crop and cattle.
He is survived by two daughters, Connie (John) Stone Jr. and Karol Keller; four grandchildren, Brady Stone, Stacey Stone, Mitch Keller and Joshua (Amber) Keller; one great-grandson, Jack Keller; two sisters, Lucille Schumacher and Lenora Wasem; numerous nieces and nephews.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lawrence; wife, Marie.
