Luther M. Nodland, 88, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Sanford Health Bismarck.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services with Pastor Dale Nabben officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 5-7:00 PM, Monday, July 27, 2015, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Luther was born January 18, 1927, at Dunn Center, North Dakota, to Cornel and Anna (Brown) Nodland. He was raised and educated in Dunn Center. He enlisted in the armed services and was a member of Company E 20th Infantry Division. In 1955 he married Hazel Beers and started a family. He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Post Office and retired in 1982. Aside from the post office, Luther also farmed. Throughout the years he enjoyed many pastimes; hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening. He could also be found putting up Christmas decorations during the holiday season. He enjoyed being a part of the VFW and American Legion organizations.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel, Bismarck; two daughters, Debra (Lewayne) Krein, Bismarck, and Jaynell (Colin) Peterson, Hazen; two sons, Dean (Yvonne), Hazen, and Brian (Vi), Gillette, Wyoming; one sister, Cordella Kremer, Dickinson; nine grandchildren, Devon Nodland, Amanda Leatherwood, Alyssa (Kerrington) Ross, Matt (Kristina) Krein, Jeremy Krein, Nathan (Amanda) Krein, Michael (Mariah) Peterson, Jaylin Peterson, Josh Nodland (Rebecca Hague), Ashley Nodland (Zach Donahoo); and five great-grandchildren, Jonah Leatherwood, Kylie, Ryder, and Brady Krein, and Trent Ross.

Luther was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lillian (Leonard) Rustand, and Thelma (Edward) Kouba; and granddaughter, Stephanie Krein
