Obituary for Macy Cook.
Macy Reed Cook, 63, passed away June 7, 2014 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.
He was born March 3, 1951 in Dickenson, North Dakota, the son of Cecil W. and Gertrude Hagel Cook. A Kansas resident for 42 years, he lived in this area for the last 12 years. He was the Manager of the Power Plant for the City of Meade and was also a corrections officer at the Larned Juvenile Correctional Facility.
He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Meade and was the President of the church council. He was a scout leader, coached sports, was a newspaper carrier, he loved to go fishing and camping and was a K-State, Royals and a Green Bay Packers fan.
On June 24, 1972 he married Janet Porter in Meade, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include; three sons, Christopher Cook, Winona, MN, Cory Cook and wife Amber, Eudora, KS and Charlie Cook, Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Dauna Herman and husband Todd, Macksville, KS; four brothers, Clayton Cook and wife Marlene, Killdeer, ND, Wayne Cook and wife Shelly, New Town, ND, Perry Cook and wife Bonnie, Bismarck, ND and Quincey Cook and wife Lauren, Boise, ID; mother-in-law, Elsie Schaben; three brother-in-laws; two sister-in-laws; five grandchildren, Kaden Herman, Kirah Herman, Payton Cook, Madelyn Cook and Regan Cook; three step-grandsons, Ross, Ryan and Neal Herman and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Dr. David Hales presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be at a later date in Werner, North Dakota.
