ND Corn Growers host 2014 CornVention in Fargo

The North Dakota Corn Growers Association is pleased to announce their 2014 Annual CornVention and Tradeshow — Fueling the Future … From the Fields to the Pumps on Feb. 19, at the Holiday Inn, located at 3808 13th Ave. S., Fargo.

The North Dakota Corn Growers Association is pleased to announce their 2014 Annual CornVention and Tradeshow — Fueling the Future … From the Fields to the Pumps on Feb. 19, at the Holiday Inn, located at 3808 13th Ave. S., Fargo.

This year will be a two-day event, held from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on February 19 and on February 20 a research event known as CornKnowledge will be held 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The CornVention and CornKnowledge events aim to educate corn growers on the future and trends of the corn and agricultural industry.

This year’s CornVention features nationally renowned speaker Mark Mayfield, who will emcee the event along with a panel discussion on The Future of E15 in North Dakota. The panel includes local and national ethanol experts along with Dean Drake from the automotive industry and Pam Keck, director of biofuels with the National Corn Growers Association.

The second day of the event, CornKnowledge, will feature Kevin Kimberley, an expert in maximizing yield potential through proper equipment calibration along with Dave Franzen, extension soil specialist from NDSU on updates to nitrogen applications.

A grand prize drawing will be held during social hour at 6 p.m. This year’s grand prize is a NASCAR Race Getaway that includes two tickets to a 2014 NASCAR race, airfare and lodging. To be entered, attendees are required to pre-register for the event.

The North Dakota Corn Growers, in conjunction with the North Dakota Soybean Growers, will also host a social the evening prior to CornVention on Feb. 18 at the Holiday Inn Poolside Rooms from 6 to 11:30 p.m.

The North Dakota Corn Growers were organized in 1987 making North Dakota one of the 48 states affiliated with the National Corn Growers Association.

The North Dakota Corn Growers Association serves as the activity arm of the North Dakota Corn Council. Corn Growers have currently identified five priorities and have developed action teams to work on these priorities including: grower services, public policy, stewardship/conservation, research and development, livestock and ethanol marketing.
