Rest of the Story

As the libs continue to relegate themselves to the irrelevant ash heap of public opinion, the question becomes, “How low are they willing to go?” Current case in point—Kathy Griffin’s beheading of President Trump ala ISIS and, then absolute lack of remorse, even after her firing from CNN. An obvious publicity stunt to try and jump-start a career that never took off and that no amount of plastic surgery and constant, vulgar nude appearances can ever compensate.

Why is Griffin even a celebrity? No one seems to know. After breaking into show biz, from a lackluster stand-up comedy career, as an extra in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 Pulp Fiction; her main contribution to American culture seems to be to delve lower into the comedy sewer publicly pioneered by comediennes like Roseanne Barr in the 1980’s. Coarse, vulgar and profane, Griffin has always been a D-list celebrity desperately striving for attention.

The real victims of all of this coarse, vulgar trash are the American people who just shake their head in disgust and hunker down for the next, grotesque, immature lib salvo. Forbes’ reporter Brian O’Malley reports that many believe the driving force for this downward, culttural spiral to be our millennials (born between 1981 and 2000), “Seventy one percent of Americans believe millennials to be selfish, while another 65% find them entitled.” And, that seems to be to whom Griffin panders.

True or not, Kathy Griffin and her ilk are finding that these immature gross-out tactics have backfired. As reported by Jayme Deerwester of USA Today, these caricatures of actual entertainers have violated a basic rule of nature—fouling one’s own nest. The public can only take so much posing naked, groin kissing, sexual hopscotch, profanity, coarseness and vulgarity before they overdose and, it just becomes annoying.

Which makes Griffin’s clueless tirades the only really comical part of her implosion as CNN, theaters all across the country and casinos cancel her appearances. And, when even Chelsea Clinton tweets, “This is vile and wrong. It is never funny to joke about killing a president”, it would be wise to take stock and dial it back. But, to parody Jerry Seinfeld, “Not bloody likely”.

In fact, Griffin has doubled down, hired two lawyers and continues to berate the entire Trump family as the bad guys in her charade. And, her snarky, “I’m not afraid of Trump, he’s a bully. I’ve dealt with older white guys trying to keep me down my whole career.” Yep, that’s right, taking a page from the Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton handbook, “it’s not me, it’s the vulgar, rich white guy who just had it a comin’”.

Or, perhaps Griffin’s most recent tearful ploy, “I apologized because it was the right thing to do” now, she paints herself the victim because of the “mob mentality pile-on.” It’s your fault, you made me do this and, now, I’m the victim. Not according to Eric Schiffer, CEO of Reputation Management Consultants in Los Angeles, “Griffin damaged her credibility even more with her rambling, defocused blaming of Trump when it was Griffin who ‘victimized’ herself.”

But, like any petulant, immature child, will the libs grow up and learn? Don’t hold your breath. Griffin’s attorney Lisa Bloom promised, “Kathy will continue to be the fierce, brutally honest ‘she-ro’ that millions love” with her client echoing the sentiment, “I’m not good at being appropriate. I’m going to make fun of him more now.” But, for now, Kathy Griffin is the butt of her own joke and, you know what, it wasn’t funny. So, if we’re lucky, she’ll just fade back into anonymity.
