Here at Killdeer High, the robotics team, to which is composed of 21 team members , are fired up for our BEST Robotics competition. We have worked long hours day after day after school, to get ready for our competition with an all student led team.

For this years theme we are expected to be able to build a remote controlled robot that can pick up and transport an abandoned mannequin, paint drums, and be able to shoot ping-pong balls (water) that’ll hit the flames (cups sitting on three different height platforms). There will be a total of sixteen teams competing to go to The Northern Plains competition. There will only be the top six placing teams to advance to the state Northern Plains competition. The event will be held at NDSU in Fargo, North Dakota. We have, in our previous four years, advanced three times, and are ready for a fifth. We are determined and driven for this year. In our preparation for the competition, three students have interviewed our local firemen at the fire station to gain knowledge of their work and abilities within the profession. With many positive attributes to the competition, there are also some drawbacks. We are given SIX Weeks to finish our robot and booth, with a weekend to make adjustments with all the other competing schools on October 21, 2017 then one other weekend for competing on October 27-28th (27th is for the booth presentations and the 28th is for the robot competition). After all this is complete we are positive we will bring 1st back home and advance to Northern Plains.
