School was cancelled, cars were parked covered in snow, a no travel advisory was issued, and county offices were shut down.

It was the first major winter snowstorm.

Rain froze the roads overnight Sunday, leaving the heavy snow to cover the icy conditions. With temperatures hovering slightly below freezing for most of the day and night, the heaviest snow fell Monday afternoon.

An average of 3 to 4 inches of snow was reported in Dunn County, but the effects from the ice and strong blowing winds made the storm severe.
