Taking hoop dreams down under

Who wouldn’t want to go to Australia this summer? Sydney Andersen, Garrett Lemieux, and Trae Murray are trying to make their dream a reality.

May 21st, they held a basketball tournament to raise money for this amazing basketball adventure. Sydney Andersen explained, “We will be in Australia for 2 weeks playing on the MonDak team. The MonDak team consists of 24 girls and 24 boys from Eastern Montana and Western North Dakota.”

As part of the fund raiser, kids ages 3rd-8th grade were able to participate. “Kids ages 3rd – 8th were able to participate. We had several games for each division. We started with round robin play, and then moved into bracket play. We had 11 teams total, and the winners received champion shirts sponsored by Killdeer Mountain Construction. We also had Indian Tacos and baked goods for sale,” Sydney stated. All of the proceeds went toward the cost of the three trips.

Winners included: “Sissy Superstars” (3rd grade)- Taylee Andersen, Chessah Morlock, Morgan Smith, and Ivy Shleppenbach, “The Jump Balls” (4th and 5th grade)- Birch Bang, Cooper Bang, Gus Bombach, and Josey Andersen, “The Little Giants (6th grade)- Gracie Doe, Sadie Stahl, Maddy Mills, and Hatten Kleemann, “The Wrestlers” (7th and 8th grade)- Zack Andersen, Kelly Bang, Ean Larsen

“We would like to thank all of the kids that participated as well as our basketball coaches Coach Murphy, Coach Jelly, and Coach Viveros, volunteers, James Mousseau, and our parents. Your support is greatly appreciated,” Sydney replied.
