The temperatures may be hovering around zero.
But, to the North Dakota High School Activities Association, it is now spring.
According to the NDHSAA, Spring started Feb. 25 when they allowed practice to start for the spring sports of track and field, baseball, golf and softball.
Of the spring sports, Killdeer is on the schedule for competition in track and golf.
In track and field, the first major hurdle for the Killdeer athletes will to be to compete in the regional championship meet, which will be held at Bowman County High School May 18, with the goal of earning a spot in the state championship meet in Bismarck May 24 at the Bismarck Community Bowl.
For golf, the state tournament will be held May 28 and 29 at Jamestown Country Club.
