DCSO stressing Drive Sober campaign

Dunn County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the National Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign through Sept. 2, according to a spokeman.
“We want to inform our community that you may see an increase in DCSO patrol vehicles out during the DSOGPO Campaign with focus on DUI enforcement.
According to statistics compiled by the DCSO for driving under the influence, 54 DUI arrests made so far for 2019, with a total of 68 DUI arrests total made for 2018.
In addition, statewide there have been 3,091 DUI arrests so far for 2019 and 4,957 DUI arrests for all of 2018.
In North Dakota, 295 people have died in alcohol-related crashes in North Dakota in the last 5 years.

In 2017, there was a alcohol-related vehicle fatality every 7 days in North Dakota.

Please don’t risk it. Call for a ride or wave a Deputy down if you’re out walking. We would be more than happy to give a courtesy ride to get someone home safe rather than you getting behind the wheel after drinking. We politely ask that this not be abused as we are not a taxi service. However, we do care about our community and want everyone to get home safe. If you’re going to drink, please do so responsibly.

The extra patrols are funded by a Federal DOT Grant.
