Dunn County riders readying for national rodeo

There will be a large Dunn County contingent making the long trip to Rock Springs in mid-July for the National High School Rodeo Championships.

The locals will be going to Wyoming for the nationals after qualifying at the recent state championship competition in Bowman.
The Dunn County qualifiers include Karly Bang in Barrel Racing and Breakaway Roping; Riley Reiss in Steer Wrestling; Kelly Bang in Pole Bending; Mason Bice-Clayton Buckhaus in Team Roping; Zane Pittsley-Riley Reiss in Team Roping; Tyler Hansen-Cayden Cling in Team Roping; Hansen and Reiss in Tie Down Roping; and Kazanne Gjermundson qualified in the cow cutting.
In the state championships, Karly Bang placed first in the Breakaway Roping event and third in the Barrel Racing, while Hansen grabbed a victory in the Tie-Down Roping along with a fourth in Team Roping with Cling.
Reiss picked up a second in Steer Wrestling, along with a third in Team Roping with Pittsley. Kelly Bang placed fourth in Pole Bending.
Bailey Smith received the Stevie Kulseth Memorial Buckle which is given to a senior breakaway roping or goat tying competitor who has worked hard and competed well, but had never before won a buckle.
