Every year, Girl Scout councils across the nation celebrate National Girl Scout Week, a time to celebrate Girl Scouts as ground-breakers, big thinkers, and role models.
This annual tradition is proudly celebrated each March starting with Girl Scout Sunday and ending with Girl Scout Sabbath on Saturday.
The observance provides an opportunity to reflect on what it means to be a Girl Scout and all that girls do to make the world a better place.
The week also includes the birth date of the Girl Scout Movement on March 12.
Girl Scouts-Dakota Horizons is inviting girls to recognize the week of March 10-16, 2019 with Days of Action. Girl Scouts are encouraged to take part in a religious service, complete a community service project, show their Girl Scout Pride by wearing their uniform to school, create an art project that reflects what being a G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader) means to them, and to Observe Girl Scout Sabbath.
“National Girl Scout week is an opportunity for Girl Scouts across our movement to come together and show off their Girl Scout pride,” said Girl Scouts-Dakota Horizons CEO Marla Meyer. “Each day of action is a powerful yet simple way to get involved and celebrate Girl Scouts.”
Girl Scout Week also falls within the annual Girl Scout Cookie Program as cookies can be purchased through March 25. Girl Scout entrepreneurs are working toward their sale goals with cookie booth sales across the council and Digital Cookie technology to operate their online store.
