Two people were injured in a head-on collision Tuesday evening (April 16) on Highway 85 north of Grassy Butte.
According to North Dakota State Highway Patrol officials, the accident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. near mile marker 113 north of Grassy Butte with wet and rainy road condition.
A 2017 Toyota Tundra Pickup, driven by Brett Murchison, 27, of Grassy Butte, was traveling northbound on Highway 85 at excessive speeds when he lost control and crossed over the
center line, according to the the accident report.
Murchison struck a 2018 GMC Sierra Pickup driven by Tony Hauck, 46, of Dickinson head on in the southbound lane.
Murchison was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated. Both vehicles sustained
extensive front end damage and were totaled. Both Murchison and Hauck were injured in the crash and transported via ambulance to CHI St. Alexius in Dickinson.
Murchison was placed under arrest for DUI (Criminal Vehicular Injury) at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
